The Department of Physics, Providence Women’s College (Autonomous), Kozhikode proudly hosted the Intercollegiate Fest SASTRA 2K26 on 10th February 2026, welcoming participants from various colleges across Kerala and providing a distinguished platform for scientific inquiry, creativity, and innovation.The Inauguration Ceremony was held at Carmel Hall at Dr. Sini, Head of the department of Physics, Dr. Sr. Ashmitha, Principal of Providence Women’s College delivered welcome and presidential address respectively. The inaugural speech was given by the chief guest Dr. Shareef M., Department of Nuclear Physics, NIT Calicut, emphasizing the importance of celebrating science and innovation. Felicitations were delivered by Abu Nadheem (Category Head, MyParf) and Muhammed Nihal (Founder & CEO, Golden Cup), who shared valuable insights on professional growth and entrepreneurship. A guest talk by Dr. Shareef further enriched the session, highlighting recent trends in nuclear physics research. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Neha (1st PG), setting a positive tone for the competitions and events that followed.
Following the inauguration, SASTRA 2K26 featured a wide range of competitions and interactive activities. Several stalls were arranged in the college premises adding vibrancy to the fest atmosphere. At 11:30 AM, an Escape Room competition was conducted, in which the first prize of ₹1000 was won by Fathima Nitha, Aisha Mehfill, and Naja Fathima. A Reel-Making Competition, sponsored by MyParf, was also held at the same time, and the prize was awarded to Aiswarya from St. Xavier’s Arts and Science College.
At 12:30 PM, a lively flashmob performance was presented at the Open Stage, with energetic performances by students. ‘Meet the Scientist’ competition tested scientific knowledge, with Johncy winning the first prize of ₹800 and Finzio securing the second prize of ₹500.
At 1:30 PM, a Treasure Hunt was conducted in the Physics Lab. The first prize of ₹2000 was won by Avanthika U, Fathima Hiba M M, Kadeeja Thanseeha, and Sneha BP, The Game Zone also attracted many participants with exciting games, including PS5, and winners were awarded prizes and certificates.
The fest concluded with an energetic band performance by Dharvish Live Band at 4:00 PM at the Open Stage. Waste management and cleaning were carried out with the coordinated effort of all the students of the Department marking the end of a truly memorable day.
Overall, SASTRA 2K26 concluded as a vibrant celebration of creativity, scientific knowledge, and teamwork.
