The French department was established in 1976. French as a second language was offered for Pre-degree and Degree courses. French is now taught as a second language at the under-graduate level based on the semester
system . While following the syllabus of the university, video and audio support by native speakers is implemented for improving the communication ability of the students. French is taught using the internationally accepted method FLE (français langue étrangère). French is taught at the basic level which is the DELF A1 level teaching the students basic communication skills in the language. The knowledge of French is an added advantage in this time of globalization.
