Two-Day Workshop on Earth Watch Network – Department of Botany

The Department of Botany, Providence Women’s College (Autonomous), Kozhikode, organized a two-day workshop titled “Earth Watch Network – An Interactive Session with Students” on 5 and 6 February 2026 at the MV Hall, with support from the Kerala State Biodiversity Board. The Department of Botany, Providence Women’s College (Autonomous), Kozhikode, in collaboration with Serah Coaching Centre, conducted an Intercollegiate CSIR-NET Life Science One Month Crash Course during December 2025 with the aim of providing focused and intensive training for CSIR-NET aspirants. The programme covered major areas of the Life Science syllabus with emphasis on conceptual clarity, problem-solving, previous year question analysis, and exam-oriented strategies, and was handled by experienced faculty and subject experts.

The Department of Botany organized a workshop on BGA Production and Mass Multiplication on 26 November 2025 at 9.30 am in the Botany Laboratory of Providence Women’s College (Autonomous), Kozhikode. The workshop was handled by Dr. Sevichan P. J., Associate Professor (RTD), Department of Botany, St. Joseph’s College, Devagiri, Kozhikode. The session provided hands-on training on the techniques involved in the production and large-scale multiplication of blue green algae, emphasizing their agricultural and environmental significance. The workshop enhanced students’ practical skills and understanding of sustainable bioresource utilization.

The programme focused on broadening students’ academic and career perspectives by sharing international exposure, higher education opportunities, and research experiences abroad. Plant–Pathogen Dialogue, an interactive session with students, was conducted on 07 November 2025 at 10.00 am in the 1st year M.Sc. Botany classroom of Providence Women’s College (Autonomous), Kozhikode. The session was handled by Ms. Maneesha K., KSCSTE Research Fellow, PG & Research Department of Zoology, Govt. College Madappally, Vatakara. The programme aimed to update students’ understanding of plant diseases, support their local plant disease documentation reports, and encourage research motivation through strong academic–research linkage. The session was informative and interactive, enabling students to gain practical insights into plant–pathogen interactions and fostering interest in research-oriented learning.
