Physics Association Inauguration: On January 23, 2026, the Department of Physics formally inaugurated its Association at Carmel Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Although the academic year had witnessed active engagement since its commencement, the ceremony—centred on the theme “A Century of Quantum Mechanics: Past, Present, and Beyond”—served as an official celebratory milestone for the department’s ongoing initiatives.The Chief Guest, Dr. Mini P. Debate – Department of physics

Urja, the energy club in collaboration with the departments of physics and chemistry, held a debate competition on January 19, 2026. The topic presented was "Phasing Out Fossil Fuels: An Imperative for India’s Energy Transition." The event was engaging, highlighting the immediate dangers of fossil fuels in India along with their associated threats, while also offering fresh perspectives on the issue. The competition was judged by Dr. Sini and Dr. Vidhya, with moderation provided by Mrs. Hasna. Group A, consisting of Fathima Asra and Vyshnavi, won first prize and received congratulations from the teachers.

On 9th December, 2025 the department of Physics organized a seminar on Energy Audit. The session was led by Mr. Pavitran, a former KSEB officer. During the morning session, the speaker explained in detail how an energy audit is conducted. He discussed the power consumption of various electrical appliances used in our daily life and highlighted the key factors and guided students on the career path of becoming an energy auditor. To make the session more practical and relatable, he demonstrated real KSEB electricity bills of different institutions and explained how energy charges are calculated. Three day astronomy Workshop -Dept. of Physics

Department of physics, Providence women's college conducted three day workshop titled "Three Days Under the Stars: An Astronomy Skill Workshop" skill  on 14,15,17 th November 2025 . Dr.Nijo Varghese, Assistant Professor of Physics in Sacred Heart College, handled the session.  Session covered a wide range of topics, including the fundamentals of observational astronomy, astro-imaging and image processing, as well as the construction of a refractor telescope. Participants also learned to use the telescope for solar observation and to study sunspots.
