The Department of Economics, Providence Women’s College (Autonomous), organized the Edwina Memorial Debate Competition on 17 February 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Open Stage. The theme for the debate was “Impact of Social Media on Youth.” The competition provided a dynamic platform for students to express their perspectives, critically analyze contemporary issues, and enhance their public speaking and argumentative skills. As part of the outreach initiative, faculty and students spent meaningful time with the community, sharing festive joy, warmth, and solidarity. The visit aimed to foster social responsibility, inclusiveness, and community engagement among students. By celebrating the season of love and giving with the tribal community, the department reaffirmed its commitment to compassion, service, and meaningful social connection beyond the campus.

The Department of Economics, organized ECONOVA 2026, an Inter Collegiate Fest, on 17 February 2026. The fest brought together students from various colleges to showcase their creativity, analytical skills, and teamwork through a variety of exciting competitions. The events included Escape Room, Product Reborn, Econo Dumcharades, Invisible Hands (Treasure Hunt), Tableau, Spot Dance, and Reel Making, with attractive cash prizes for winners. ECONOVA provided a vibrant platform for students to blend economics with innovation, performance, and fun, fostering healthy competition and intercollegiate interaction.

The programme was graced by Ms. Alphonsa Mathew, Social Activist and Former Councillor of Kozhikode Corporation, as the Chief Guest and Resource Person. The Department of Economics, Providence Women’s College, organized an Anti-Drugs Awareness Flashmob at Manachira on 19 December 2025 at 4 PM. The initiative aimed to spread a strong message among the public, especially youth, to “Say No to Drugs” and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Through a vibrant and impactful performance, students actively engaged the audience and created awareness about the social and health consequences of drug abuse. The event reflected the department’s commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.
