The Annual Lecture on Cinema Studies for 2025-26 was delivered by Dr. Robin Xavier, Assistant Professor, Research and PG Department of English, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Devagiri on 19th February 2026 at 1.30 pm in the MV Hall. The lecture was titled, “Reframing the Hero: Hegemonic Masculinity and Resistance in Contemporary Malayalam Cinema” and explored areas including Representation in Cinema, Representation of the Male (Hero) in Malayalam cinema, Caste in Cinema – Hegemony/Homogenization of Identities, Toxic and Sensitive Masculinities and Subordinate Masculinities: Dalit, Muslim & non-Syrian Christian Representations in cinema.
